How to preliminarily determine the product quality of calcium chloride desiccant?

19 Feb, 2025 11:54am

In recent years, more and more enterprises have begun to pay attention to the moisture and gas prevention issues of products during storage and transportation. Calcium oxide dry protectants have become the preferred packaging materials for many enterprises' product exports due to their higher heat absorption rate and longer continuous heat absorption time compared to other types of dry protectants. However, faced with packaging printing on the market
How do we choose calcium amide desiccants that are similar but have varying prices?
Firstly, you should confirm whether your end customer has a designated supplier for desiccants. If your customer has a designated supplier, you must purchase genuine desiccants through legitimate channels. If your customer does not specify a supplier, in order to avoid purchasing inferior desiccants, it is recommended that you master some knowledge of drying agents and conduct a simple screening of the quality of desiccants.
1. Appearance judgment: High quality bag desiccant products have a neat appearance, clear and recognizable printing, moderate sealing brightness, no incoming materials, full raw materials, general printing blurriness due to the quality of the desiccant, rough workmanship, uneven sealing width or irregular sealing.
2. Packaging material judgment: High quality desiccant packaging materials have uniform thickness, no spots, smooth surface, and high strength. Poor quality desiccant packaging materials have uneven thickness and poor tear resistance. Some may even fade or fibers may fall off when kneaded by hand.
3. Open the outer packaging bag: The high-quality drying agent outer bag is tightly packed and tightly sealed, making it difficult to gradually open. The edge sealing of the quality dry retaining agent is not firm because it is easy to operate. The edge sealing of the internal bag of the quality dry retaining agent is regular, and there are no quality problems such as incoming powder, edge sealing dislocation, etc. After complete moisture absorption, the internal package is in the early gel state. The formula of the quality dry agent powder package is uneven, and the moisture absorption rate is poor. Some even have water droplets or liquid leakage in the moisture absorption process.
4. Moisture absorption test: Based on the weight difference of the desiccant before and after moisture absorption, we can preliminarily measure the moisture absorption rate of the desiccant. After the desiccant is unsealed, the original gross weight of the desiccant is immediately weighed, and then the desiccant is placed in a humid environment for natural moisture absorption for one week or more before weighing, and the moisture absorption rate of this desiccant is preliminarily calculated. After the desiccant absorbs moisture, we can also check whether the outer bag of the desiccant is leaking or damaged after expansion.
